Meet Jane Haimes, PMHNP, LCSW
Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Mental Health Services in Stamford, CT
For teens and adults across all stages of life.
My Philosophy
Care that fits you, not the other way around.
You are more than your symptoms and challenges. They do not define you, and most importantly, they do not have to limit you.
In my work with patients, I draw on three primary orientations based on my years of training and professional work:
as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - with experience over two decades providing advanced diagnostic understanding and evidence-based therapies to treat individuals across the lifespan who have mental health problems
as a Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner - with experience in comprehensive primary care, health promotion, disease prevention, and research-supported psychiatric medication management.
My background and training in mental health include positions in outpatient and inpatient programs for adults and adolescents. As a Family NP, I founded and directed a student health center at the university level. I’ve taught nursing and social work students in clinical settings, and I’ve contributed to nursing research. All of my professional experiences have helped me value the importance of listening, of empathy, and of carefully refined therapeutic interventions. I recognize and respect the strength it takes to ask for and utilize mental health support.
Whether we’re engaging in therapy, medication management, or a combination of both, I take the time to appreciate all that you share - while setting a tone where you feel comfortable and actively engaged. I’ll consistently check in to ensure our work remains aligned with what is most important to you. And I make it my goal to be available promptly for questions or concerns as they may arise.
I provide both in-person and online appointments at flexible times. You can choose the format that best fits your schedule and personal preferences, including a hybrid option. I do request an initial in-person appointment if you are interested in an evaluation for medication, and in-person follow-up appointments for medication management, as needed.

Working with me is…
-
Whatever you’re here to address, we’ll explore your concerns carefully and and at your pace. To be able to gather a full picture of you, your life and history, I try to establish an environment where we can have an open, comfortable dialogue, with give and take, pauses to think, and opportunities to express whatever you feel. Sharing the details of your life takes trust, and I am committed to earning that trust in every appointment.

As a Psychiatric NP, Family NP and Clinical Social Worker, I'm always considering the interactions of your physical health, emotional health, and life situation on your day-to-day functioning. I'll inquire about your medical and family history, your diet, sleep patterns, interpersonal life, activities and routines, strengths you see in yourself, as well as your more fragile qualities - all to get a full portrait of you. Symptoms and diagnoses are not viewed in isolation. There are many reasons individuals experience symptoms. I value identifying YOUR reasons, to be able to craft a multi-faceted approach grounded in a comprehensive understanding of you.
-
To achieve the relief you seek, we will join forces to find new solutions. I'm here to draw on my clinical training and experience to listen with objectivity, sensitivity, medical and psychiatric understanding. I am able to collaborate with other individuals who are helping you - physicians, therapists, support services - to ensure coordinated treatment that respects each provider's role in promoting your optimal wellbeing. I function as an advocate for you and your best health.

I believe you are capable of making changes in your life, and I want to help you feel that way, too. We'll work together to identify specific goals that are important to you and break these down into realistic steps you can take to achieve them. Through therapeutic tools that will challenge you, build your adaptive coping skills, and strengthen your resilience, you'll be engaged in a process focused on helping you grow. A newfound sense of agency is one of the most significant outcomes I seek for all my patients.

What changes would you like to see in yourself or in your life?
We can create a clear plan to move toward those changes while addressing what is unsettling you right now.
Personalized treatment.
Therapy, medication or a balanced combination of both. The decision is yours.
As a Nurse Practitioner and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I appreciate the many layers that contribute to who you are and how you feel.
With this in mind, I select and blend therapeutic approaches across multiple evidence-based modalities, to shape a plan of care focused on your unique needs and priorities, and the type of treatment YOU want.
Consider a phone call to get acquainted and to see if the help I can offer resonates with you.
Therapy and/or medication appointments are available in-person in Stamford and online across Connecticut. For New York residents, therapy appointments are available at my Stamford office and online.
